ShotSpotter Analysis

In this project, I worked with my Applied Mathematics class at Wheaton College to study ShotSpotter, a gunshot detection technology. We compared data from the Chicago Police department with ShotSpotter data to see how well ShotSpotter was detecting shooting crimes for the CPD. The repository contains our model and analysis. Most of my contributions are in the file Clearance Analysis (1_8_2022).ipynb.

In this Jupyter Notebook, I analyzed the clearance rate - the rate of arrest - for shooting crimes, comparing the clearance of those detected with ShotSpotter to the clearance of those not detected. We found that there was no significant difference in clearance between shootings detected with ShotSpotter and shootings not detected.
